Be a Mere Cats its Seemples

DITCH the embarrassing hoodie and snuggle up in cosy cashmere this winter. The High Street has loads of affordable cashmere on offer, with Primark selling a sweater for only £36.

But can the luxury wool be cheap, cosy and chic?
MELISSA SHEDDEN put five to the Sun wash and touch test - washing each sweater five times to see how it held up to the rigours of machine rinsing and spinning. See how each rated for quality.

Primark

This grey sweater - just £36 - came up trumps, remaining super soft after the five washes, and was the winner for overall value.

M&S

Coming in a close second to the Primark triumph was this navy-coloured jumper, which at just £49.50 had a smoother finish than many of the other more expensive ones.

Coarse ... charcoal sweater from Uniqlo, £69.99, and cherry jumper from Zara, £69.99

Uniqlo

The £69.99 charcoal sweater was a bit coarser in its texture.

Zara

This cherry creation, at £69.99, was a little coarse to the touch, like the Uniqlo one.

Gap

The camel-coloured sweater - £75 - was the cosiest and most luxurious to touch before the wash but stretched afterwards.
